Please join us at the Gallery for a talk by Johanna Trainor who will be discussing the making of her photographic series titled Construction Beijing 2009. This work, made during her residency at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, is currently on exhibition in Love from Beijing at Cessnock Regional Art Gallery. During the talk, Johanna will discuss the dramatic physical and economic transformation that was happening throughout China and particularly in Beijing that she photographed during her residency. As her camera could not avoid the presence of colour-coded trucks, stacks of bricks, piles of sand and building materials, she decided to make this the subject of her images to convey the energy and urgency of Beijing evolving into a modern city. www.johannatrainor.com
